Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Governance

The course is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to learn:
- corporate governance
- management.
The course builds skills and knowledge to be a director in a community organisation operating in 2 worlds. It recognises cultural obligations and legal and financial obligations to corporation members and stakeholders.
The trainer will use scenarios that could be applied to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.
Registered training organisation
The course can only be delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO) that is approved by the Australian Skills and Quality Authority. Learn more about BSB41021 – Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Governance on training.gov.au and see a list of RTOs approved to deliver this qualification.
To complete course requirements and achieve the award, participants must attain the 12 units of competency required. The units we usually engage an RTO to deliver in this course are:

Support for your studies
You may have to:
- travel and spend time away from home
- do work and assessments at home between blocks of training.
ORIC will cover:
- your upfront tuition fee, hiring the training venue and catering
- travel to and from each block, and accommodation if required.
Travel for each block of training will usually be:
- going to the course on Sunday
- returning home on a Saturday.
ORIC does not pay for:
- sitting fees
- travel allowance
- childcare
- personal or incidental expenses
- security bonds with the accommodation provider.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for an ORIC-supported place in this course you must:
- be a current director of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation registered under the CATSI Act
- be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
- have never been disqualified from managing a corporation or company
- agree to the course timings and commitments
- have completed one of our corporate governance workshops
- participate in an initial skills assessment of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN). This will assist CIT Solutions to determine if the course is appropriate and if learning and support strategies are required.

- if learning and support strategies are needed.
