Changes to corporation directors and details

Corporations registered under the CATSI Act must keep certain records and notify ORIC within 28 days when there is a change.

To notify us, log in to our online lodgement system or use the PDF form

We can make some updates if you phone (1800 622 431) or email us. The changes that can be made this way are in attachment A of our policy statement on changes to corporation details.

This information is added to the Register of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations and some of the public register is made available online (you can search the register using the 'Find a corporation' tool on this website).

Corporation addresses and contact details

If your corporation moves office (or the address where your documents can be accessed) or there is a change to its phone number or other contact details, you must notify the Registrar within 28 days.

People and their personal details

People involved in certain roles at a corporation must tell their corporation within 14 days of a change to their details, and the corporation must notify ORIC within 28 days

Directors, alternate directors, contact person or secretary

Notify ORIC when a director, alternate director, contact person or secretary:

  • is appointed
  • is reappointed for another term
  • is no longer in that role
  • notifies the corporation of changes to their personal details.

Personal details

Personal details are the person's:

  • first name and last name
  • former names (if any)
  • date of birth and place of birth
  • residential (home) address, and their alternative address if they are eligible to have one
  • director ID, or the fact that the person does not have a director ID.
Addresses

Directors must provide their residential (home) address. They can give an additional alternative address to be used in place of their residential address on the public register if:

  1. their name is on the electoral roll but not their address because of issues of personal safety, or
  2. the Registrar grants them an exemption in writing because their safety or their family’s would be at risk.

The alternative address must be a place where documents can be served on the person.

Members

A list of who the corporation's members were on 30 June is required every year as part of the corporation's general report – it’s also a good idea to lodge an update whenever you make a change to your register of members.

Although members addresses are part of the information to be lodged, ORIC does not display this information on the public register.

Auditor

Medium and large corporations are required to lodge an audited financial report every year. Whenever an auditor resigns or a new auditor is appointed, you must notify the Registrar within 14 days.
