Job description/overview

The First Nations Lecturer in Public Health will be part of the Education Team that delivers the Menzies postgraduate Public Health and Health Research Program for Charles Darwin University. Menzies' courses provide students with effective frameworks and reliable tools which enable them to understand and tackle complex population health and social challenges in local, national and global environments - with a focus on First Nations health.

What you will bring to the role

The person we are seeking will be passionate about First Nations health and developing innovative content primarily for First Nations public health and health research units. According to the expertise they bring to the position, the successful candidate may also be involved in other areas of public health teaching such as social science, health promotion, environmental health, child health, sexual and reproductive health or health policy. They will have experience in teaching, with strengths in communication, student engagement and support in an online and/or face-to-face teaching environment

They will also:

  • Provide a high-quality learning experience for postgraduate public health and health research students in the online and/or face-to-face teaching environments (where there is a requirement for INTERNAL delivery they must be available for the whole semester to deliver the weekly face-to-face classes).
  • Prepare innovative course materials to enable the teaching of postgraduate public health and health research units for both the e-learning platform and face-to-face delivery.
  • Mark student assessments in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback to students
  • Participate in moderation and quality improvement in the units that they deliver as required.
  • Undertake all the administrative functions which are connected to the units of teaching including tracking academic progress and finalization of student grades.
  • Apply university learning and teaching policies and procedures, particularly on matters of academic integrity, assessment, moderation and conduct.
