Registrar’s update: 294 corporations deregistered for failing to lodge reports

Announcement

The Registrar of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations, Tricia Stroud, has finalised the deregistration of 294 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations. These corporations no longer exist.

When a corporation is deregistered, it ceases to exist as a legal entity and is no longer able to trade.

In October last year, the Registrar gave notice to 328 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations about her intention to deregister them for failing to lodge reports for the past 2 years.

How to check reporting and deregistration status

ORIC makes available for free via oric.gov.au, a view of the Register of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.

You can search for a corporation by its name, Indigenous corporation number or location. From the search results you can access the corporation extract that contains a summary of all reporting activity and notices issued to the corporation.
