Registrar completes investigation into Jawoyn Association Aboriginal Corporation

The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, Anthony Beven, has today announced the conclusion of an investigation into the affairs of the Jawoyn Association Aboriginal Corporation (Jawoyn).

The investigation was commenced by the Registrar after complaints were made earlier this year about a number of officers and employees of Jawoyn. The complaints were widely reported in the Northern Territory media.

The Registrar has determined that no criminal or civil action will be taken in relation to the complaints.

An independent barrister specialising in criminal law reviewed the evidence and concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove breaches of the legislation administered by the Registrar.

No further comment will be made in relation to the investigation.
