Help for Mount Isa Indigenous corporations

Mount Isa Indigenous corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 have the opportunity over the next few weeks to get assistance with their 2008-09 annual reports.

Help is on the way from the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC).

‘Our role at ORIC is to offer support, advice and training to help Indigenous corporations do the best job for their communities,’ Registrar, Anthony Beven, said.

‘Officers from Canberra are visiting the Mount Isa area to lend a hand to Indigenous corporations as some may be finding this reporting process, required under the Act, difficult.’

The ORIC officers will be in the Mount Isa area from Tuesday 18 May – Thursday 27 May 2010.

Corporations wanting assistance should contact the freecall number: 1800 622 431 (not free from mobiles) to make an appointment.

‘It’s always best to take advantage of these face to face opportunities,’ Mr Beven said.
