Finalists highlight good governance

The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, Anthony Beven, today congratulated the 2010 Indigenous Governance Awards finalists.

Two of them, the Association of Northern, Kimberley and Arnhem Aboriginal Artists Aboriginal Corporation (ANKAAA) and the North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health, are registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act), administered by the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations.

‘I wish to acknowledge all of the awards finalists and especially the hard work and commitment of the directors and staff of these two corporations,’ Mr Beven said.

‘The success of these corporations is crucial to the wellbeing of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that they service.

Based in Darwin, ANKAAA represents the interests of 43 community art centres located in the country’s Top End; and the North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health provides health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions of Queensland.

Mr Beven also congratulated Reconciliation Australia and BHP Billiton for organising and sponsoring the Indigenous Governance Awards.
