Carnarvon corporation undergoing restructure

The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations has today appointed Mr Barry Jameson from TNR Financial Services Pty Ltd as special administrator of Carnarvon–based Mungullah Community Aboriginal Corporation.

The corporation, registered on 28 May 1982, has been funded to deliver housing, recreational and educational services in the Carnarvon region for many years. It owns a community hall and leaseholds over two pastoral properties.

The directors of the Mungullah Community Aboriginal Corporation recently wrote to the Registrar, Mr Anthony Beven, asking him to appoint a special administrator to assist in getting their corporation back on track.

The Registrar of Indigenous Corporations provides support to build strong corporations, strong people and strong communities.

‘The directors acknowledged they have been experiencing problems in the running of the corporation,’ Mr Beven said. ‘They asked me to appoint a special administrator to help them restructure the corporation and improve governance.

‘Barry Jameson’s appointment will run for approximately six months and during this time he will review the financial position of the corporation and discuss the future of the corporation with the corporation’s members.’

The Mungullah Community Aboriginal Corporation is registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act).
