Choosing the best person for the job
When you need to recruit senior staff, ORA can help you through all steps in the process, including:
- developing a job description
- advertising the position
- vetting applicants
- conducting interviews
- preparing the selection report
ORA offers recruitment assistance to corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act). The service encourages best practice and aims to build capacity by helping corporations to recruit great senior staff. If all you need is to advertise your vacancy on the ORIC website, please lodge a request to advertise a job on our Corporation Jobs page. If you need more help, read on.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations registered with ORIC that are looking to fill senior positions are eligible to apply.
Corporations remain responsible for all decisions in the recruitment process, including who to recruit and the salary package offered. ORIC's role is to assist and guide. ORIC makes no decisions on behalf of the corporation; nor can it help with any of the costs of recruiting or advertising.
If the process works well, the corporation will be confident to recruit other staff on its own.
- Make sure your corporation approves of your plan to apply for ORA.
- If you have any documents about the proposed position, or a description of the duties, you can upload them as part of your application.
- Fill in the application form—and if you have any queries, let us know.
Any questions about applying for ORA? Contact ORIC on freecall 1800 622 431 or email ora@oric.gov.au

Ang-Gnarra Aboriginal Corporation of Laura used the ORA service to recruit a general manager
The ORA service helped us to move quickly through what can be an intimidating process. It really helped the board, gave them confidence, and allowed them to focus on choosing the best person rather than worrying about the process.
