Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation (JCAC) is governed by an elected body representing the Aboriginal community of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region. JCAC’s functions and services include delivery of community development, arts & culture, building maintenance, land management, employment programs and community services.

JCAC seeks to appoint a new chief executive officer (CEO), reporting to the board, to strengthen the leadership, governance, relationships, compliance, strategic planning, resource management and business development of the organisation. The CEO will lead performance management at a senior level in a multi-disciplinary environment, create and implement effective strategic plans and develop systems to improve business performance.

Job description/overview: 

The CEO reports to the board. They are responsible for strengthening the leadership, governance, relationships, compliance, strategic planning, resource management and business development of the organisation. The CEO will lead performance management at a senior level in a multi-disciplinary environment, create and implement effective strategic plans and develop systems to improve business performance.

Expressions of interest are invited from experienced executives motivated to drive strategic success, financial development and key community relationships. Applicant skills and experience sought include:

  • Five years’ experience in a senior leadership position, ideally at CEO level, with understanding of Board function, governance, statutory compliance and reporting.
  • Experience in the management of a government funded and/or not-for-profit body delivering Community Development Program (CDP) and government services.
  • Strong financial management skills, including financial reporting and the delivery of operations within budget guidelines.
  • Strategic approach with the vision to seek business improvement opportunities providing community engagement, employment, training and development.
  • Experience in relationship management and development at a senior level with community bodies, government agencies and commercial partners.
  • Proven team building, motivation and management skills.
  • Strong public relations, communication, presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • Tertiary-level qualifications in commerce, business, finance or other relevant discipline.
